I spent my lunch putting some texture on canvases to paint later. One is a new canvas and one is an old one I am reusing. The worst part is waiting for them to dry so I can paint them.
I’m not well versed in applying texture, having experimented with a small tube of impasto (for oil). I really like the way your pieces are structured. Have you done a post on how that process works? Would like to learn how you do it or what you use.
Thank you! I use Golden gel mediums applies with a knife to get it on thick and let it dry for a few days. After it is dry I paint over it using sponges and brushes to fill in all the nooks and crannies. At the end I use a light color sponges over the top lightly to pick up the texture variations. I’ve also found using a wax like gold Rub ‘n Buff brings out the texture in a cool way too.

Great info! Much appreciated. I’ll experiment with this in the not too distant future and post the results, good or bad.
