A peek at what I’ve been doing. I’ve been using whatever I can grab to paint lately such as my pottery sponges, old burp cloths, a ratty kitchen sponge and finally I just resorted to finger painting.
Also, I’ve added several layers of varnish to my peach. I’m not sure if you can see it from here but I’ve only varnished the section where the peach is. I dig it.
I have a full-time job which I do from home. I also have 3 kids, a dog and a husband. This all adds up to a lot of needs…so.many.neeeds. Therefore, the fact that I have 1 blessed hour to do what I want with Monday thru Friday is even more precious to me than my youthful self could have ever imagined. What is this blessed hour I speak of? Lunch hour.
I used to spend my lunch-hour running errands, doing laundry, cleaning (ew), or eating. Then, I awoke from my daze and understood what that hour could really be, me time man, me time. So that is why I have paint for lunch.
Moving on, here is what I worked on today. I added some to my abstract figure piece and started the background on, what will be, a peach still-life.
I took a day off and did nothing but paint. I’ve never taken a day off just to paint before so I just made myself keep moving. I got some circular abstract texture down on a canvas that I’ll play with more next week. Mostly I worked on a long canvas I had and approached it without an agenda. It’s shaping up to be an abstract landscape of some kind with a fiery sky.
