I have two pieces going that involve scribbles. I’m not sure what it is about them, but I love that I am forced to work with the mess I made and turn it into something.
The first one I started a long time ago but never finished. I put it back on the easel again recently and added a gold varnish and bumped up the blue contrast. I thinks it is almost done.
The other I took a high gloss medium and mixed up some dry gold pigment with it and swirled scribbles on the canvas. Once it dried I put a thin yellow oxide was over it. I haven’t decided what to do next on it.
A peek at what I’ve been doing. I’ve been using whatever I can grab to paint lately such as my pottery sponges, old burp cloths, a ratty kitchen sponge and finally I just resorted to finger painting.
Also, I’ve added several layers of varnish to my peach. I’m not sure if you can see it from here but I’ve only varnished the section where the peach is. I dig it.
I worked some more on the fiery sky piece and for some reason a bunch of golden figures wanted to get in on it, so I let them. I’m not sure I’m done with it yet but I like the added figures, they’re like guardians of some sort.
The canvas with circular texture went blue today and I am using some pthalo blue to make the texture come out. It will probably need some silver additions later as well.
